Some treasures

I haven’t been buying a lot of vintage this year because I quit eBay in March. I was spending way too much time and money.

The things I have bought have been from small sellers, and I have two birthday treasures from Sapphire and Sixpence that I am particularly pleased with.

The first is a handmade dress that I think, from the fabric and construction, was possibly made in the 80s. It has a stage costume air to it, but it’s neater than costumes usually are. Bit of a mystery.

It’s very like Batsheva dresses – which cost £500. Lovely, swishy fabric with a huuuuge skirt and it washed perfectly, which was a relief.

Second is a cute deadstock dungaree jumpsuit with an embroidered bib. It’s a juniors piece but I am the size of a child, so a good fit. I loved the lilac stripes, had to have it. I like anything playschool-esque.

It was slightly too short in the body so I spent a pleasant hour of hyperfixation making the straps longer with the crochet edging of a vintage shelf cloth. Of course.

It feels good to care for these special pieces and adapt them to work for me. They get a new life, and hopefully not their last.

Am I right? Tell me!
